Music

I love many kinds of music and had went through various change in musical preference. From indie to mainstream. From classical music to jazz. Music is very important for me.

Books

A little bit different from other girls, rather than spend my money to buy clothes, shoes, or cosmetics, I usually choose to buy books instead.

Pharmacy

Pharmacists are healthcare professionals who practice in pharmacy, the field of health sciences focusing on safe and effective medication use. For me the science of pharmacy is fascinating and interesting.

Movie

I'm a movie enthusiast. Particularly for Fantasy, Adventure, Animation and Science-Fiction Movie. It's a nice way to escape the reality for a while.

Jadi terkenal, menuai rezeki. Kalaupun ada sanksi sosial tidak akan seberapa. Lama-lama terbentuk masyarakat Indonesia yang penuh drama. Semoga ini hanya kekhawatiranku belaka.

D.Gray-Man

I don't recommend this manga to teenagers under 15th years old because there's a lot of violence and disturbing pictures. But aside from that, this manga is really good. Unfortunately the author of this manga (Katsura Hoshino-sensei) often get sick so we'll have to wait for a long time to get update of the story. T^T.

Allen and the other exorcist

Allen as a child with Mana

Basically, D-Gray Man is story about the war between Noah clan and Black Order. The main character is an orphan boy named Allen that abandoned by his parent because his ugly and abnormal left hand. Allen then adopted by Mana Walker, a clown that travel all over the country to entertain people.

Unfortunately Mana Walker then die in a collision, left Allen alone in despair. In this sad moment came a person known as Professor or Millennium Earl offering his help, said that he could bring Mana Walker back to life with 1 requirement. Allen just have to shout Mana's name to bring his soul back. Since Mana is the only one person that Allen has in this world, he agreed to Millennium Earl's condition. He didn't have any idea that Millennium Earl actually deceived him (and many others) to made a demonic akuma, a sad creature where its source of energy is the sadness and bitterness of a soul. When a soul of someone that has passed away is called back and turn into an akuma, it will be force to kill the one who called the soul to earth and then wear his/her body. It will make any soul will be in despair. Mana really furious because Allen called his soul back to earth that he wounded and cursed Allen's left eye. Suddenly, Allen's left hand change into weapon that kill Mana's akuma.

To make long story short, it is revealed that Allen was born with a substance call "innocence" that could kill the demonic akuma. Allen then join a group called the Black Order where he and other exorcist use "innocence" to combat "akuma". Actually, the story has been expanded and the war between Noah Clan and Black Order is not as black vs white as it seems. I really love this manga. You could read it here. I usually prefer the manga than anime but this time I love both. It's funny, touching, the story has many layers and the characters are well-developed. Here are some of my favorite character!

Allen Walker

Allen with General Cross Marian

Allen Walker is my most favorite character from this manga. He's kind, generous, very polite, but has darkness inside him. It is revealed later in the story that Allen was a very different person as a child. As an orphan that abandoned by his parent, he has no name, rude, withdrawn, so hesitant to form relationships that he often resorted to insulting people. His only friend was a dog named Allen which happened to be Mana's dog. After the dog died, he take the dog's name as his name and then adopted by Mana Walker.

After Mana's death and he discover his innocence power, Allen met with General Cross Marian who explained that the only way to save akuma is to exorcise them. Allen subsequently became Cross' disciple and spent the next three years with him before being sent to the Black Order to become an official Exorcist. During this time, Allen was tormented by his master's constant irresponsible behavior and forced into various odd jobs to pay off the debts that General Cross accumulated. This lead the development of another personality, which is called "black" personality by his friends. He learned to play cards and gamble at a very young age to pay Cross's debt. He also learned how to cheat and win through deception and doesn't hesitate to use these tactics whenever necessary. This is a stark contrast to his polite and courteous nature and often surprises his friends, who wouldn't expect such a dark side to Allen. He also possesses circus abilities such as juggling and acrobatics, which he learned from traveling with Mana who was himself a circus clown by trade.

Allen with Timcampy

Allen considers Akuma to be just as important to him as humans, swearing his left arm to saving Akuma and his right to saving humans. His innocence had gone through several development. From Cross to Crown Clown.

Allen's left hand

The first form of his left hand, Cross alpha.

When Allen's synchronization rate exceeds 100%, he is able to transmute his entire left arm into a large broadsword with a cross emblazoned on the faces of the blade called Sword of Exorcism. I really love to see it. His cursed left eye also gone through some development. By the way, due to his parasitic-type anti-akuma weapon, he has a vast appetite and eats lots of food. It later revealed that the 14th, a Noah who betrayed the Earl and was killed for it, implanted his memories into Allen, and the memories will erode him away until he becomes the 14th.

Crown Clown
Kanda Yuu

Kanda Yuu is a second exorcist. He is a handsome (rather pretty actually, with his long hair and such) Japanese Man with foul mood, cold, arrogant, but annoyed very easily by Allen and Lavi. He often call Allen "Moyashi" (beansprout). Kanda had enhanced artificial regeneration so he can recover much faster than any ordinary human. His blood is also enriched with healing power. He's fast and an excellent swordsman. His innocence is a sword called "Mugen" that could create illusion. I think he's pretty cool.

Lavi, Allen and Kanda Yuu

Lavi

Lavi is the successor of Bookman clan but enter the Black Order as an exorcist for the sake of recording the world history. In the end, Lavi develop personal attachment to all of his exorcist friends even though he doesn't suppose to have those kind of feelings. As a bookman, he has to record the world history as an observer and because of that Lavi is fully though reservedly aware of the fact that he might well live to see his "friends" and "comrades" die around him and be expected to move on without showing much of an outward reaction.

Lavi has a fondness to beautiful woman and often said, "Strike!" when he met one. He can actually be very intelligent and insightful and as a bookman he possess eidetic memory.

His innocence is a Hammer that can shrink, grow and extend at Lavi's command. He also uses it as a mode of transportation by standing on the handle and continuously extending it in one direction. The weight increases with its size, but since Lavi is the Accommodator, this weight change does not affect him. His hammer can be use to create fire (Fire seal), lightning (Heaven seal), and control weather (Wood seal).

Lenalee Lee

Lenalee is a kind, caring young woman who treasures her friends and those she comes to think of as "family" more than anything else in the world. In one battle she lost her long hair when battle with a Level 3 akuma. Her innocence is a pair of shoes called "Dark Boots". It made Lenalee can travel at the speed of sound, walk on the water, create tornado and destruct akuma by her falling technique in which Lenalee's power condenses onto her Dark Boots, meshing them into a morass of blades, carrying an extremely high weight.

There are still so many interesting characters in this manga such as Komui Lee (Lenalee's overprotective older brother and also Black Order's Chief Officer), Miranda Lotto, Arystar Krory III, Timcanpy (Allen's golumn), Lero (Millennium Earl's special Golemn), and many more. Read this manga and see it for yourself! And don't forget to watch the anime too.

All Time Low and A Rocket to the Moon will come to Jakarta!

It is announced in Adrie Subono Tweet just now that All Time Low and A Rocket to the Moon will perform in Jakarta, 23 August 2013!

At this point, the place and ticket price is unknown but I expected it will be announced shortly. I don't know whether I would go or not. It's very dependent with the ticket price and my financial condition >///<. But I will keep you update as soon as the information is available. Will you come and see this concert??

Epic (movie review)

As I have said before, I'm fans of animation movie. That's why yesterday I watched Epic, an animation by Blue Sky Studio (a studio that also made Ice Age and Rio). Its story loosely based on The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs.

Its visual is pretty but honestly this is just another generic animation with brave heroine, rebellious or  scoundrel hero, and cute sidekick creature where the emotional moment/drama came from the relationship of the protagonist with their misunderstood parent. The visual is nearly as good as The Croods but I love Epic storyline better. After watch this fim and The Croods, I'm still waiting for a decent animation that would really entertain me (I'm looking at you Despicable Me 2 and Monster University!). It is still a pretty entertaining movie though, particularly for young kids. So it still can be an option to spend your spare time.

Fast and Furious 6 (review)

Honestly, I'm not a fan of Fast & Furious franchise. From 6 films, I only watch 2 Fast 2 Furious (which I don't really like), Fast 5 (this one is quite entertaining. I like it), and now Fast & Furious 6. I don't really like this franchise because I thought Fast & Furious is only about cars, cars, cars and cars with action, race, and girls in minimal clothes. But I thought Fast 5 is quite good and Joe Taslim, one of action actor in my country is in Fast & Furious 6. So I place my Blitzcard in the Blitz Ticket Machine and buy the ticket without hesitation.

Fast & Furious 6
The action in this movie is quite good even thought almost all the protagonist crew survive without serious injury (they do all those crazy stuffs and only mildly injured? Miracles often happen in movies). There's not many race in it compared to other Fast & Furious movies and they include some humors and drama to balance the action. After watch it for about 15-20 minutes I could predicted where the story will go, so I'm not surprised by the twist. I don't really pay attention to the music though. But the movie itself is pretty entertaining.
Joe Taslim in Fast & Furious 6 Premiere in Los Angeles
I was surprised that Joe Taslim (I've met him and have a photograph with him when I watched The Raid. He's really nice) had many moments in this film. Just seeing his name in the opening credit made me full with proud. He had one scene at the beginning of the movie where he said, "Vegh, hantam mereka!", which he said to made the audience aware that he's from Indonesia and not other Asian countries. This is the clip from his action scene in Waterloo Station:

Overall, this is a good movie particularly to the action movie fans. In the end of the movie, there's a snipped of future Fast & Furious 7 where Jason Statham get out from the car that attacked Han and throw Letty's necklace that she gave to Owen (the baddie in Fast and Furious 6) in front of Han. Now, it making me interested to see what would they do with the next film. Have you watch Fast & Furious 6? If you already watched it, are you interested to see the next installment?

Star Trek Into Darkness (Review)

Honestly, there's too many review of this film that made me lazy to do one even thought I've watched Star Trek Into Darkness for the third time. Crazy? I am. I love the 2009 Star Trek Movie (even though there are a lot of issues that unexplained in that movie). Well, since I never watch Star Trek:The Original Series (only Star Trek: The New Generation), I would not discussed how correct are the portrayal of the actors to those iconic characters. I would review it as a stand alone movie.

I think this movie is great. In my opinion, more awesome than Iron Man 3 (since I still hate the fact that they change the Mandarin character in the movie). The special effect is good, the cinematography is good. I raise one of eyebrow when someone said that the movie plot is slow. Pardon, slow? I think the story travel in warp speed that I didn't realize 2 hour has passed. For me, all the acting in this movie is good. Benedict Cumberbatch is brilliant as the villain in this movie, but he did not give ground-breaking performance. Maybe because somehow I thought the villain is quite underdeveloped. However, Benedict is a scene stealer. Wherever and whenever he's there, he steal the attention that I didn't give attention to other actors. He he >///<. The music is good. I particularly like Khan's theme. It's so evil. Gosh. What I don't like about this movie is I found the action is rather exhausting (a little bit too much) and some plot holes.

I read some of other reviews and just want to address some issues:
  1. Some said Kirk is an idiot and careless leader for stealing something that he didn't know that made him chased by Nibiran in planet Nibiru in the opening sequence of this movie. I disagree with that. He's careless but not an idiot and I think he had a pretty good reason to steal that paper roll. He's trying to lead Nibiran away from the Vulcano that could wipe out the entire race. By stealing the paper roll that was worshiped by the Nibiran, he's success in lead them away. Well, even though it made him seen by the Nibiran, which violate the Prime Directive.
  2. Some complaint that Spock is inconsistent in this movie. He don't want to violate the prime directive that said no primitive culture can be given or exposed to any information regarding advanced technology or the existence of extraplanetary civilizations, and yet he violate the prime directive that said Starfleet must not interfere the internal development of alien civilizations, in this case is save the planet from its destruction by render the volcano inert. I disagree with it because I think save the planet from its destruction is not interfere the internal development of alien civilizations, the sight of USS Enterprise to the Nibiran is. Moreover, having seen the destruction of his planet, I can not imagine Spock would reject Kirk's order to save planet Nibiru. Then in the movie Spock said that if thing goes according to plan, their intervention will never discovered by Nibiran so technically they won't violate the prime directive.
  3. Some said Kirk is a jerk for being manipulated by Khan, threatening lives of his crew and resulted in the Admiral Marcus death. I don't think it will make big difference since Admiral Marcus had planned to kill Kirk's crew from the beginning by impairing the warp core and making them as a bait to start war between Klingon and the Federation. But I did think it's so unwise of him to offer himself and his crew to chase Khan in the first place. I don't like it too when he's not listening to opinion from his crew and fired Scotty subsequently.
  4. The other said it's not logical there's so few people in a ship as massive as USS Vengeance and how easy Scotty to sneak in the ship without no one knowing. Well, Khan itself said that he designed the USS Vengeance to be operated by as few crew as possible. But I did find it illogical it can't detected unauthorized personnel go around freely inside the ship without any sensor pick there's something wrong.
Despite it's awesomeness, there's a several issues that I don't like in this movie:
  1. Khan's blood. It's in the story just to bring Kirk back and make Khan can manipulate one Starfleet officer to blow up London. Seriously, now that they found this miraculous form of blood to resurrect death people, I'm wondering if they would mass produce it and there will be no incurable disease in the future.
  2. Kirk's crew and Khan had just killed some Klingons in Kronos. What happened then? There's no story about this anymore and the movie just end with crews of USS Enterprise take off their 5 year-mission.
  3. Why Kirk appoint Chekov as the substitute for Scotty (the Chief Engineer)? I mean, I know Chekov is 17 years old genius in this movie. But he's a navigator not an engineer. It's pretty weird that Scotty doesn't have a second-in-command from engineering crew that could substitute him when he's not fit for duty.
  4. It's illogical that the security crew didn't arrest Scotty directly when he found him.
  5. What's the point of the scene where Dr. Carol Marcus strip off? Just a fan service? They could do it better. That's being said, J.J Abrams recently reveal Benedict Cumberbatch's shower scene that end-up cut. Watch the scene below:

Since I'm not a pervert, I don't complaint this scene was cut from the movie. Fu fu fu. Well. Well. That's all my opinion. In the end, for me it's a very entertaining movie. How about your opinion?

Benedict Cumberbatch and Chris Pine in The Graham Norton Show (download)

Last week on 3 May 2013, Benedict Cumberbatch and Chris Pine was guests in The Graham Norton Show along with Kim Cattrall, and Bonnie Tyler. This show is hilarious, I can't stop laughing when I saw it. Particularly the part about Chris Pine's fans (the Pine-Nuts) and Benedict Cumberbatch's fans (the Cumberb*tches, well actually Benedict would rather call them Cumber Collective or Cumberbabes ^^). By the way, this is the video on Youtube:

I split the video into 3 parts. Part 1 contain the introduction. Benedict Cumberbatch talked about the "Neutron Cream Incident" and he and Chris Pine talk about their fans, the Cumberb*tches and Pine Nuts. It's pretty hilarious. You could download it here.

Part 2 talk about how some Pine-Nuts and Cumberb*tches travel from distant places to The Graham Norton Show just to see Chris Pine and Benedict Cumberbatch (it's funny). They also talk about the funny things that they experienced when performed in the theater. This video is also really hilarious. You could download it here.

In Part 3, you could watch how Benedict Cumberbatch challenged to present the trailer of The Graham Norton Show in his best sinister voice and Bonnie Tyler sing her song (which is picked to represent UK in Eurovision song contest), "Believe in Me". If you fancy to look at it, you could download it here.

I hope you enjoy this show as much as I do! If you already watch it, share your opinion about it in the comment section below. Do you think they're funny too?

Lenka Live in Concert, Skenoo Hall, Jakarta, Indonesia - 4 May 2013

I was so lucky since I won a free ticket to watch Lenka live in concert on 4 May 2013. The concert was held in Skenoo Hall, Gandaria City, the same place where J-Rock Evolution was held in 2012 so it's kind of nostalgic to go there. I'm not a big fan of Lenka but I like her and know some of her songs so it's a joy to watched her. The opening acts are the finalist of X Factor Indonesia and they're quite good. Really, watching someone's performance live than only see them on TV always make different in term of the emotional element of the performance. That's why I love to go to live concert!!

My free ticket. Yay!!

They called Nu Dimension, a boyband and big 3 of X-Factor Indonesia
Novita, also big 3 of X-Factor Indonesia. Sorry for the bad quality photo

Fatin, big 3 of X-Factor Indonesia and the favorite to win. Sorry for the bad quality photo

Lenka and her band
Lenka and her keyboard. She looks beautiful

Lenka with 3 finalist of X-Factor Indonesia performed Everything at Once

Lenka and finalist of X-Factor Indonesia performed The Show, if I'm not wrong
The Setlist is like this

  1. Trouble is a Friend
  2. Roll with the Punches
  3. Everything's Okay
  4. Nothing Here But Love (New song)
  5. Hot to the Body (New Song)
  6. Heart Skips a Beat
  7. Don't Let Me Fall
  8. Everything at Once
  9. Locked Out of Heaven (Bruno Mars cover, feat. Sena)
  10. Find a Way to You (New song)

Overall the show was fun. An enthusiast fan shouted out loud, "I love you Lenka" which she replied with, "I love you too". Wkwkwk. Lenka said her Indonesian fans is the best fans in the world (you said that to every country that you visited, didn't you?). I want to thank Indosat for given me this opportunity to watch a live concert for free. I hope they do it more often in the future ^^.

Iron Man 3

The opening act of this year big summer Hollywood movie parade is none other than highly anticipated sequel, Iron Man 3. I love Iron Man but only slightly hooked by Iron Man 2. So, the big question in my head when I entered the cinema with my best friends last Thursday is whether this film would spark something inside of me (like Iron Man) or is this movie just another popcorn movie where I would enjoy it in Cinema but would completely forgot it the next week (like Iron Man 2).

First thing first. What I love in this movie is Pepper Potts turn bad ass, she's even save Tony (Ouch. Is that spoiler for you?) There's more action scenes with Rhodey and I love how Tony cooperate with one of his fan to short things out (That kid seriously really cute >///<.. owww). I love Guy Pearce performance too, but it sure question me about his motive. Destroy the world just because someone ignores you? Really? But well, when you thought someone is humiliate you, you could accumulated revenge and madness deep inside your crazy black heart and go wreck havoc.

Those trailers sure led you to the wrong expectation. It gives you idea that this movie looks grim with the Mandarin as this really bad ass super villain (but it turns out to be a joke, really. Sigh. Wait. Do I give spoiler to you again? My bad). When I first saw trailer where the Mandarin blow up Tony's place in Malibu and said, "Lesson number one. Heroes, there is no such thing", I was like, "I don't wanna know about his lesson number two. For God's shake." But don't worry, this film is not dark at all. More like a comedy. I laugh a lot in the cinema.

Overall, this is a very entertaining movie. I still pretty much love the relationship between Tony and Pepper. The special effect is okay though I don't really love the cinematography. I hope this movie will bring emotional effect to me, but it did not. So I would say that I love Iron Man 3 as much as I love Iron Man, but maybe would forget about it next year. Confuse? I confuse too. But I still recommend you to watch it in cinema.Trust me. It's entertaining.

Finding Srimulat

Dua minggu lalu (tepatnya 14 April 2013. Yeah, things difficult if you're a cheap bast*rd. Whatever, inilah pendapatku tentang film ini.

Finding Srimulat poster

He he he.
