Music

I love many kinds of music and had went through various change in musical preference. From indie to mainstream. From classical music to jazz. Music is very important for me.

Books

A little bit different from other girls, rather than spend my money to buy clothes, shoes, or cosmetics, I usually choose to buy books instead.

Pharmacy

Pharmacists are healthcare professionals who practice in pharmacy, the field of health sciences focusing on safe and effective medication use. For me the science of pharmacy is fascinating and interesting.

Movie

I'm a movie enthusiast. Particularly for Fantasy, Adventure, Animation and Science-Fiction Movie. It's a nice way to escape the reality for a while.

NBL Indonesia, Hall A Senayan Jakarta (11, 12 & 14 January 2014)

As you could read from my previous posts, I love basketball. That's why it's quite bizarre that I never thought to watch National Basketball League (NBL) before. Silly me!! I've been in Jakarta for almost 4 years, yet I never watch NBL until 4 days ago.

A tree that I passed while I walk to the venue. I wonder why it become so  black. Polution?
The queue to enter the venue
On 11 January, I came to Hall A Senayan at about 2 pm because I want to support one of my acquaintance. He's a basketball player in Hang Tuah Sumsel Indonesia Muda and that day his team was going to play againts BSC Bandung Utama. I planned to watch 3 games that day, my friend's game, Pelita Jaya vs Garuda Kukar Bandung and then the big match, Satria Muda vs Aspac Jakarta.

At first, there aren't many spectators. Judging from my ticket number, I was the 153th person to come and watch the game. But gradually more and more people came to the venue. My acquaintance's team won the match with score 78-54. Yay! It was clear from the game that Hang Tuah Sumsel Indonesia Muda has better skills than its opponent.

Garuda Kukar Bandung vs Pelita Jaya. The venue had already full at that time
The next match is between Garuda Kukar Bandung and Pelita Jaya Jakarta. I know nothing about those teams but it seems that they're one of the top teams in NBL. When one of the player from Pelita Jaya must be out from the game because of injury, spectators gave him applause. Apparently he is a renowned player. It's unfortunate for me that I can only saw him play for a short while. This match is over with a painful defeat of Garuda Kukar Bandung. A buzzer beater from Pelita Jaya end the match with score 68 - 66.

Some basketball player and cheerleader show their skills in the opening ceremony.
After a flashy opening ceremony, the big match between Satria Muda and Aspac started. I've been waiting to see that match because those teams are the top basketball clubs in Indonesia with Satria Muda have won 8 championship and Aspac have won 3 (if I'm not wrong). Apparently I'm not the only one who's eager to watch this game, judging from how full the venue is with a total of 4500 spectators. It was so full, many people have to watch from side of the court.

Honestly I'm a little bit disappointed with the big match. That's because I thought they weren't playing with their best condition. At the warming up session, players from both team dunk so many times that my heart beating fast, thinking the match must be amazing. I literally was trembling with anticipation and expectation. But maybe because of the enormous pressure, the shooting accuracy of both teams were bad. There's many mistakes in their play, particularly Aspac. I don't think they play as a team, too individual for me. On the other hand, Satria Muda play more calmly. The match ended with the score 68 - 63 for Satria Muda and I became fans of Satria Muda's center, Rony Gunawan.

The match ended with the win of Satria Muda

On 12 January, I came to watch 2 games, CLS Knight Surabaya vs Satya Wacana Bandung and Aspac Jakarta vs Stadium Jakarta. After watched the match, I became a fan of Dimaz Muharri, point guard of CLS Knight. The games ended with the victory of CLS Knight, 80 - 63 and Aspac, 68 - 64.

Aspac time-out
I think I became a fan of Aspac, right after their victory over Stadium Jakarta. They were left behind by 16 points margin but managed to turn the tide in 3rd & 4th quarter and win the game. I particularly love their point guard, Andakara Prastawa. I kind of hate him in the game with Satria Muda, because I think he's too individualists. But now that he's back on the right track and not so selfish, I can see that he's an amazing player >///<. Ha ha ha. The other point guard, the guy with jersey number 3, is great too. I love their shooting guards, Xaverius & Oki Wira. I also love their rookie, number 13, Ebrahim Enguino Lopez. Simply said, I like Aspac.

Because I kind of become Aspac's fans and I also want to watch my acquaintance's game, I end up spending my holiday on 14 January by watching NBL in Hall A Senayan. This time I came with one of my friend who love basketball. We watched 2 games too, Stadium Jakarta vs Garuda Kukar Bandung and Hang Tuah Sumsel Indonesia Muda vs Aspac Jakarta. Garuda win with score 69 - 58. Aspac also win with score 63 - 54. Honestly I don't want my acquaintance to lose. But since they lose to Aspac, then I think it's okay ^^ (laugh). I think this is the best Aspac game that I've watched so far. Why they can't play like that in the game with Satria Muda?  Ha ha ha. Whatever. I'm looking forward to next Saturday where I will watch Satria Muda vs Pelita Jaya. I also beyond excited to watch Aspac Jakarta vs Pelita Jaya this Sunday. How about you? Have you ever watch a basketball game before?

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is a manga by Shinobu Ohtaka that have been published by Shogakukan since 2009. In Indonesia, 3 volumes of this manga has been published. I heard that it's a great manga. That's why I download the 1st episode of the anime to have a glimpse of its story. But unfortunately, at first I wasn't impressed. I think the flow of the story in the 1st episode of the anime is not right. Moreover, I didn't really like the character of Aladdin and Alibaba that was portrayed in that episode and the friendship that bloomed between them didn't have a great impact on me.

Sometimes after that, I encounter this manga in Gramedia bookstore. Because I keep heard how good this manga is, I want to give it another chance and end up read it. I was a little bit surprised that the 1st episode of the anime is different with the manga. The story in the manga is better and makes me like the characters more. Short story, I end up collecting it.

The main characters. Morgiana, Alibaba and Aladdin
Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is a fantasy manga sets in fictional world where there's a lot of nations and empire that amusingly have some resemblances with real-life nations in our world. For example, Kou empire is similar with Chinese Empire and Reim Empire is similar with Roman Empire. It draw inspiration from the story One Thousand and One Nights, hence the main characters are named Aladdin and Alibaba.

This manga follow the story of a Magi named Aladdin and his chosen King Vessel, Alibaba. Magi is a magician of  that shape the world. A Magi's job is to select a King Vessel and lead their vessels to become king. Exactly what one is supposed to do to achieve this is unknown. All that was revealed in the manga is Magi can raise Dungeon with Djin, treasure and lots of magical item. Each person that want to become a king must go and clear the Dungeon to achieve power that is needed to become a king. If they success, they become a King Vessel and own a Djin. All the King Vessel in the manga only have 1 djin, with the exception of Sinbad (7) and Kouen Ren (3).
Sinbad and his Eight Generals
What I love the most from this manga is the story. It's quite deep for a shonen manga. It show us the complicated relationship between nations, mirroring the problem that a nations encounter in our real-life world. It also tell stories about how a nations could take control of other nations, how a king win support, create alliance, and so on. In short, it's interesting. I love its story about magic and swordsmanship. It's pretty funny too. I also love the romance between Alibaba and Morgiana. Ah, and I choose one of its antagonist, Judal, to be in the List of 15 Manga Antagonist which is Too Cool Too Hate. I love the anime soundtrack too.

Overall, I really like this manga and recommend you to read it. I don't really like the first episode of the anime but it gets better as it's keep going and somehow managed to become one of my favorite. So, read it. Watch it. And then let me know your impression about it ^^.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (Review)

I heard that this movie is based on a good story. That's why I decide to give it a shoot and didn't regret it.

This movie leave an impression to me. It's like slapping me in the face and told me, stop just dreaming and start living the reality. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a story about a man named Walter Mitty that love to zone out and daydreaming. He often escapes his anonymous life by disappearing into a world of fantasies (in his daydream, of course) filled with heroism, romance and action. Yeah. Pretty much like me. Ha ha ha. But when he's threatened to be fired, somehow he embark a journey that turn to be a great adventure. Damn. I want to go on an adventure like him! Go to another continent, visit another places and experience different cultures!

What I like in this movie is the cinematography. It's great and the visual is pretty. The acting and the music is nice. The story is decent. A perfect balance between humor and drama. But somehow I thought it would have more emotional punch if only they can make the story more deep. It's pretty predictable and sometimes I don't really have sympathy with his love life, but whatever. Overall I really like this movie and recommend you to see it. So go see it in cinema and told me your impression about it ^^.

Tegami Bachi (Letter Bee)

Tegami Bachi is a manga by Hiroyuki Asada sensei. I know Asada sensei because he's the author of I'll, a basketball manga about rivals turn bestfriend, Akane Tachibana and Hitonari Hiiragi. I like it. I always love manga about friendship after all. That's why I'm looking forward to his next manga and feel pretty happy to encounter Tegami Bachi (Letter Bee) in Gramedia. If my memories is right, my friend ever recommended this manga to me. She said that Tegami Bachi is a manga that worth to be collected because the drawing is beautiful. She's right! I end up collected this manga just based on its art alone, without even read it first. For your information, before decide to buy a manga I always read it online first. In this case, I just read the summary and think the story has potential. And then just bought it^^. He he he.

Cover of Volume 1. Gauche Suede and Lag Seeing
Tegami Bachi is a dystopian manga that take place in AmberGround, a fictional land illuminated by an artificial sun that divided into 3 separate territory (Akatsuki, Yuusari, and Yodaka). It kind of remind me of the division of Wall Shina, Wall Rose and Wall Maria in Attack on Titan. But of course it's not inspired or take any idea from Attack on Titan because Tegami Bachi is released first (Tegami Bachi is running from 2006 while Attack on Titan is running from 2011).

Tegami Bachi follow the story of Lag Seeing, a boy that aspire to be a Letter Bee after delivered as a letter by a Letter Bee named Gauche Suede. In case you're wondering, a Letter Bee is pretty much like a postman. But the job as a letter bee in AmberGround is much more dangerous than the life as postman in our world because letter bee had to fight a Gaichuu, giant armored insects who attempt to feed off the "heart" that reside within letters and packages. You could read more about it here.

I absolutely love the art of this manga. Moreover, I really love the color. AmberGround is mostly hidrangea color (purple and blue). The character design is cool too. As for the story, it surprisingly satisfied me although sometimes I can't relate to it. I usually love a more deep and heavy story. But even thought the story of this manga is light, I can enjoy it. Interesting characters is what this manga lacking, particularly the antagonist side. I don't see any interesting antagonist. Lag seeing is a very benevolent protagonist, and cute as a little brother but honestly sometimes I can't relate to him. My favorite characters from this manga are Gauche Suede, Jiggy Pepper, and Zazie Winter, all is rarely seen. Ha ha ha.

Niche, Steak, Connor, Lag and Zazie
Anyway, this manga has been adapted into 2 anime. It's quite good too. It might be depend on your preference, but I will still recommend this manga to you. So, read it then tell me what you think about it^^.
